Hi folks

I think there's something wrong going with the reasoning here.

As far as I know, fuel pumps at gas stations measure what they pump in
volume. Petrol shrinks and swells quite a lot with changes in temperature.

So if the petrol in the underground tank is COLD, you get more molecules of
petrol per gallon. THere was/is a petrol station in Taupo (central, North
Island NZ) where due to the underground volcanic activity, the petrol always
came out HOT. Guess what; they were on a winner. They paid for cold petrol
pumped in, it heated up and they sold the same fuel expanded with no price
compensation for the reduced calorific value per litre.

If your motor has fuel injection, it also probably measures it in volume; cold
fuel - more calorific value per stroke, hot weather, less. Don't know how
carburettors would be affected. Probably the same.

let it warm back up to +15 after it gets into your fuel tank.
