1.) Use a monospaced font (e.g. Courier to read
correctly text below

2.) Make your own SF lens (and a very good one,
well corrected for spherical aberration and distortion,
with some chromatic aberration and beautiful soft
focus effect)

Buy two lenses +4 dioptries at optician :)
Put them this way:

===================
              =============================
                            ==*==*===
                             *    *
   cardboard                *      *
     tube                    *    *
                            ==*==*===
               ============================
===================          ^
               ^ ^- cardboard rings keeping lenses in place
^ ^-let them slide one in another
^-here put OM mount (e.g. extension tube)

Lenses should be separated by 1 - 1.5 cm, an placed some 10 - 12cm
from film plane. You should use two cardboard tubes, one sliding in
other, try to make their connection light tight (e.g. using some
flocking on the tube edge). You can put Waterhouse stops inside;
diameters for following f-stops should be:

f/2.8             42 mm
f/4               30 mm
f/5.6             20 mm
f/8               15 mm
f/11              11 mm

..at f/11 it should be a pretty decent lens, by the way!

I encourage everyone to try to make this simple and cheap :) device.
It gives kind of softness simply not available by using filters,
even Softars or Duto's :)

have a nice day
