[OM] My wonderful weekend...

My wife, her mother and I took one of our regular trips to Tunica this
weekend to relieve our bank accounts of some of our hard earned cash at the
casinos. For those of you that have never been, it is like a mini Las Vegas
in the middle of endless cotton fields. Good fun, though. For once we
actually came away ahead (my wife taking a $500 jackpot from a nickel
machine just before we left yesterday), so it would have been a great trip
even without luck I had...

Just before we got to our hotel, I spotted a pawn shop up a dirt track to
the side of the road and decided to take a look. On a shelf at the back of
this place I spotted an OM10 with 50mm 1.8 and a small gadget bag. I asked
the (very nice) guy if I could take a look. He was asking $150 for the
camera with all the accessories. I looked in the bag and in it was a 28mm
2.8 and a 135 3.5 (neither of which I had). I told him that I didn't need
the camera and asked if he would be willing to part with the lenses
seperately. 'No problem', he said, 'make me an offer'. I offered him $30 for
both and he accepted! The 135mm has a case and is in really good condidtion;
looks hardly used. The 28mm had no case, but did have the rubber Oly hood,
and is also in very good condition. I was chuffed!

As if this wasn't enough, as I went to leave, the guy called me back and
said that he had another Olympus lens if I was interested. Turned out to be
an extremely nice 24mm 2.8, with case and metal hood, which I got for the
princely sum of $10 :)

Needless to say, I am feeling quite smug this morning.

Dave

P.S. Oh, I also took a load of pictures in and around Memphis which I'll put
up on my site when I get them back.
