[OM] OM-1 Film Advance Weirdness

Subject: [OM] OM-1 Film Advance Weirdness

Last week, I was shooting some B&W with my 1976-era OM-1 MD. At 1/500th
sec., I released the shutter. After the shutter fired, the mirror did not
drop back down or reset (viewfinder black). I advanced the film and the
mirror reset itself to the upright position, however, the shutter release
button did not reset (so that when you would press the shutter release it
would depress fully without being engaged). Advancing the film one more
time released the shutter (taking an interesting shot) AND reset the
release. This happened three times through that roll taken over two days.
So essentially, three times I had to advance the film TWICE for each
exposure. When I developed the roll, I expected to see three black frames
for the three times that I had to advaced the film to get the mirror to
re-set. No black frames, all exposed. However, I did have three "wild"
shots where the camera was pointed up a weird angle while I was trying to
figure this out.

Is this a common problem? With a common fix?
