1. I always use the hood marked for 50mm f1.8,f1.4 and 35mm f2.8 on the 35-70/3.5-4.5 and have never had any vignetting. One of mine is a later production of the same hood and includes the 35-70/3.5-4.5 in the markings on it.

2. The hood for the 28/3.5 and 2.8 is different from the hood for the 28/2. They are the same depth and filter thread size but the f2 one flares out faster and is about 10% wider at the front. So it is quite possible that the wrong hood will cause vignetting.

3. Putting the hood on top of any filter will make it cover a narrower angle. Moving the same circle further away makes it subtend a narrower angle.

4. A polarizer alone is thick enough to cause vignetting on some super wide angle lenses. I don't think that is true of the Oly Polarizer and the 28/2.

So, by combining points 2 and 3, you have virtually assured yourself of a vignetting problem with the 28/2. Of course, you can't reverse #3 and put the polarizer in front because there aren't threads on the hoods to hold a filter. I suspect that a thick polarizer in that position would also vignette. So it appears that, using standard Oly bits, one can have a hood or a polarizer, but not both? Perhaps the correct hood on top of the polarizer will work??

I thought I did that last weekend while shooting pictures, then I got
vignetting....I better see if the shots with vignetting were in fact from
the 35 - 70 or the 28 F2 on which I had mounted the rubber lens hood of the 28
F2.8....but would this make a difference? Are the hoods of the 28 F2.8
and 28 F2 interchangeable? I thought it should? OR, did I do wrong putting in
the OM polarizer in between?
