Hello fellow irrational acquirers,
Need to sell this to pick up some other equipment I need. It does have a
flaw that may bother some people. You can not get a filter on this
because there is ding on the front end that extends into the hood. When
I bought this, I was told the ding was only in the hood, but I found out
differently when I looked at it upon receipt. The small amount of
flatteng along the front edge is there. This of couse is an f8 lens so I
never used a filter on it, to keep shutter speeds up. I did try to get
some filters on it just to see, and could not get any filter to go on
all the way, though some would go further than others. Otherwise the
lens looks just about mint. Comes with original rear, and generic front
caps.
Last summer, I used this to photograph some turtles sunning themselves
on a river bank across from me, and got nice sharp and contrasty pics.
This was something I had been wanting to do after seeing them the
previous year but my 300/4.5 just did not have the reach. I used both a
tripod and handheld.
