There are the black plastic caps that plug the hot shoe socket while the
shoe is off the camera, and there are the 2 black plastic inserts which are
part of each hot shoe. The parts from the shoes are originally glued in.
They occasionally get stuck to the top cover and then fall out when the shoe
is taken off the camera. .
