do with two, or even one and a window. or get a lampsha*D*e, same idea. or

if you have only one source of light, say a window, get a white piece of cardboard, curved into a semicircle. your subject goes in the middle of

.. the semicircle, with the single light source (window or lamp) shooting into the semicircular "reflector" to give decent smoothing of light.
