Hi,

One of my housemates picked up a similar one of these for a Min*lta. Seemed
to be a quite reasonable lens.

The Q-Dos bit was an attempt (from the 80's I think) to create some kind of
3-D photographs. With the lens, you got a really tasteful set of glasses,
with a red lens over one eye and a green lens over the other. (Remember
those cardboard ones they used to give away in cinemas for those "3-D" films
?!). You then look at the photographs wearing the glasses. And yes, you do
look silly !!

As I said, my housemate has one of these. He took some pictures using the
3-D function, and they did look kind-of 3D with the glasses on. Not great
though. You had to fiddle around, holding them at arms-length, under a
certain light. Also a major pain if you need normal glasses too ! Without
glasses the pictures had a very strange effect, looking a little soft around
the edges of sharp images, with some odd colour-bleed.

So, in short, unless you really want to play with it just use it without the
Q-Dos bit !!

Hope this helps,

Jon Mitchell

Hi guys...
I haven't been able to post for awhile because I don't have a computer at
the moment. But I have a few moments now to let you know of my new toy. I
just picked up a Vivitar 70-210mm f2.8 constant aperture with macro to 2.5
life size. I picked it up for $30 AUS (Approx $18 US) without a warranty
from Cash Converters. It had some fungus on one of the elements, so after
some careful dismantling and cleaning and drying, I have put it backed
together and now have a very reasonable lens!
My question thou is that it has terrible zoom creep! Is there any way to
stop this or slow it down.
Also it has a switch that is marked Q-DOS (I think!) that flips down half a
blue and red filter inside and gives a bizarre look especially between the
focal lengths of 135-210. Does anyone know what this is for??
Thanks in advance
Adam
