Which MD are you referring to?
I have been using my MD-1 with the M18 Control Grip in my pocket for at least
10 years. The 1.2M cable is perfect for this.

The M18 Control grip for the MD's looks like it has been carefully designed
so it **cannot** be used with the Motor drive extension cords.
The back interlocking overhanging plate is wider than that on the motor
drives or Intervalometer so that it can't physically fit. Although unusual I
can't see why the extension cable should not be used, as it would make a remote
squeeze release with batteries? Maybe this is a mistake rather than a feature.
