Is that the same stuff they're using in the digital film camera? I hear it
has an OM adapter. :-)

To get slightly back on topic, dielectric grease is NON-conductive.  The
reason it's used on things such as potentiometers (which is what an OM asa
dial is), is that it prevents the buildup of oxidisation on the resistor
plate and wiper.  It's the oxidisation that usually causes the dial to fail.
That's why turning it back and forth a number of times may get it to work
until the the oxides build up again.  Cleaning the asa resistor plate and
wiper and then coating them with a small amount of dielectric grease will
usually keep it going for years.
