As for zoom creep, the fix there is to get some black electrical tape
and stick it down the length of the body inside the sliding section --
it enlarges it just enough to make it all solid again.

Sounds easy enough but isn't there a tension adjustment screw? Like
maybe under the focus/zoom ring rubber sleeve?
