It might be worth checking the archives Doug. I have used 2 Minolta
Dimage (Scan Dual and Scan Elite) scanners and I now use a Canoscan
FS4000US with my Mac. It produces large files at full resolution -
70-oddMb, from which I normally have to cut down to about 50Mb. It
uses SCSI-2 or USB 1.
Generally, people seem to think that the Nikons (LSIV 2700ppi and
LS4000 ...) are pretty good, but they are quite a bit more expensive
for the resolution.
