Dear All

One of our courses of tyro RAF pilots had their Families' Day today and invited a pilot of this lovely machine along for us to wonder at:

http://www.b.totten.btinternet.co.uk/html/janieframe.htm

The aircraft was flown by its restorer, Maurice Hammond, and the web site above is run by the photographer he brought with him, Bernie Totten. This Mustang has, we believe, the Packard Merlin and it looked and sounded extremely sleek as it arrived at about 30 feet. The aircraft is in pristine condition, and as I watched it manoeuvring past our little Grobs (small single-engined trainer), it looked magnificent on the ground as well.

I was allowed to sit in the cockpit, the first time I have sat in the cockpit of a Second World War fighter, so that made me happy for the rest of the day.

OM content? Oh, well I had my little XA with me for a few shots of the machine next to our hangar at RAF Wyton.

Gary, this beast will be showing at Duxford on 12/13 July... :>)
