Garry, An annular eclipse has to be solar, i.e. the moon is in front of
the sun as viewed from earth but this time it's too far away to
completely cover the sun's disk leaving a ring of the sun showing hence
the name. It's a serendipitous coincidence that the moon and sun appear
to be almost exactly the same size as viewed from earth. i doubt many
aliens have eclipses like we do here on earth. This might be a good
tourist draw if marketed right.
