Do you mean to say you have actually had success at getting your film hand checked at an airport in the UK ? 8-)

They were just the same at Heathrow in the early nineties. I had film in canisters in my pocket, I asked for them to be hand inspected, I even removed them from the canisters. They just put them straight through the X-ray machine.

I've never had success getting *any* of my film hand-checked at *any* airport in Europe. Heathrow, Frankfurt, Roissy-Charles de Gaulle, all the same -- put 'em through the fog factory and hope for the best. Mind you, I was using *very* slow film (Velvia - 50 ISO), so I never noticed any problems. But I'd sooner slash my wrists than take high-speed film through a European airport -- might as well flush your money down the nearest toilet bowl.
