I don't see why electronic shutter can be faster, remember the date the
first 1/4000s shutter they were FM2 and FE2, one is mechanical and the other
is electronic. The OM3 and OM4 both can achieve 1/2000s, the FA in 1985 can
also achieve 1/4000s, I have tested them personally. One trick on the FA was
the flash sync was only 1/200s not 1/250 as quoted. Most if not all
electronic shutters are electro-mechanical charged, the travelling is
governed by spring force. Ok, my info may be a bit old, today's 1/12000s
shutter could be fully motor controlled.
