In the 80's I made some small speaker boxes from carbon fiber/kevlar.
I then lined one with concrete but found some problems with ridding
the concrete of moisture so on the second one I used a sand epoxy
mixture.
This was for use in a car :-)

Over fifty years ago, I built a corner speaker cabinet whose front was
filled with sand, a la Wharfdale specifications. A dual coil Altec
speaker was fitted to it. In the midst of Manhattan, getting all the
sand was quite an enterprise. I was the hit of the [audiophile]
neighborhood for a time.
