I began to read a book on microbiology. Fungi are of quite different
species. Some of them grow on human skin and actually get more active when
people sunbathe, leaving dark maculae. But those fungi concern medical
practice and obviously don't grow on glass.

Well, this is the answer I had not thought of. I'll have to find a good
surgeon who believes in Ponds cream. :-)
