Not in the case, it's legitimate. For those of you who may be interested
here's the full text of the letter. I have no connection with it other
than being friends with the editor, John Foster. Contact information can
be found on John's web site: http://home.clara.net/biofos/toc.htm

The Olympus Circle
A special interest group for collectors and users of all formats of Olympus
cameras

You may be interested to know that the above group has been formed and
application for membership is open from July 2003. The Olympus Circle has been
created primarily to satisfy the needs of many collectors and users of Olympus
equipment worldwide, from the earliest folding cameras, twin lens reflex,
35mm view/rangefinders. half-frame viewfinder and single lens reflex, 126,
FTL and OM system cameras. Modern compacts and digital cameras are also
included though we do not intend to compete with the Olympus Users Club that
supports interest in the more modern equipment.

The Circles objectives are:
1. To be a source of information & advice to members interested in acquiring,
collecting or using any format of Olympus camera(s).
2. To promote general interest in the Olympus marque by research, documentation
& publication of results in the magazine Quest & by photographic challenges,
cameos & portfolios and competitions in all formats.
3. To provide via the magazine Quest, feature articles, historical and
technical exposes, advice about sourcing, collecting and using Olympus
products and provide access to any archive/research material held,
handbooks, repair manuals, lists of approved repairers, service centres and
specialist dealers. It will also facilitate access to any data held and
reproduction in Quest of any published information across the whole range
of Olympus products (with formal permission of Olympus Optical Co. Ltd.,
   Japan.)

The Circle will be served by its quarterly magazine Quest which is A5,
approximately 24-28 pages high quality 1200 dpi resolution reproduction in
colour and monochrome. The magazine is designed to engage its readership, be
informative and entertaining and encourage members to contribute by letters
or emails to the editor, featurettes or full Centrepiece articles. In addition
there will be a team of technical and historical advisers on hand to answer
questions or help with research, documentation or articles.

Membership rates are:
UK - GBP15.00 per year, Europe - GBP17.00 per year, Rest of World - GBP20.00
per year. Amounts over the standard UK rate reflect higher cost of postage.
Renewal date is 1st September. Members joining from July 2003 onwards will
receive the September issue of Quest and their next renewal date will be
September 2004. Quest will be published each September, December, March and
June.

The Executive Committee responsible for forming The Olympus Circle is
comprised of: Terry Hardy - Secretary, Eric Dugdale - Treasurer,
Bill McArdle - PR Officer and John Foster - Editor.
