Hi list.

Big thanks to Donald and Tom for pointing me in the right direction. It was
indeed a problem with the 2 packages not being on the same machine. That
was more tricky than I thought it would be though !!

In an effort to keep the "dodgy" version off my new machine, I tried
installing Express on the older machine. I'm no expert, and this thing is
running ME, both of which conspired to cause a lot of grief. I can honestly
say that I wish I'd upgraded to XP much sooner. All the things I struggled
to set up before (networking, network printers, etc., on this machine when
it was running 98) are so much easier that even I can do them - I used to
have to call in my housemate / PC expert !!

Problem arose because Windows in its infinite wisdom could not understand
why I would want to downgrade from outlook to Express. I'm sure it could do
it, but after much fiddling it was deemed to be beyond my expertise !! So,
after much impatience, I TEMPORARILY installed full "dodgy" outlook on my
new machine. Express then happily imported from it (contacts list took a
bit of doing, though), and I fully uninstalled the offending article. My
only concern now is that there is some mention of it forever burned into my
registry entry, which dear old Uncle Bill will get upset about when XP does
an auto-update. Still, my conscience is clear (ish) ! I'll even destroy
the offending disc(s) to fully clear my conscience !!

So, thanks again to Tom and Donald for the pointers. Much appreciated.

regards,

Jon

Now I can get back to using my OM's. It's a gorgeous day outside ...
