Hi Jason, and welcome to the List. Is the camera overexposing on the shots that you wrote about?

Good Afternoon, (or Good morning to those joining us from across the pond)

I have a question for the assembled wise ones regarding my OM4 along
similar lines to the current thread on the OM-2(n) AUTO metering problem.

When using the Auto mode I often get resulting exposure times in excess of 10 seconds in what I would call very bright conditions. Similarly I tried
to shoot a sunset recently and got exposure lengths of well over 30
seconds, the results being 2 or 3 stops overexposed. Even accounting for
the aperture being stopped right down and including polarisers, ISO 100
film etc. these times still seem a little excessive.

Most of the time the "Auto" mode performs admirably and in general I'm very
pleased with the camera. It just seems a bit odd.

Do you think I have a problem with the meter or am I just being stupid? I am very much a newbie to photography (and this list) so feel free to point
out my lack of understanding and naiveté.

Thanks.
