Hi Chuck,

My quote on waiting to finish the film was in response to Piers' first
suggestion that the aperture link was adrift.........

"Jason, I wonder could it be the aperture linkage is adrift. That is, if
the
lens aperture lever is not properly indicating the set aperture, it *might*
account for the problem you are experiencing, sucj that if you set an
aperture of f/11, camera thinks it is set at f/1.8, and meters accordingly
(at full aperture). Lens then stops down, and suddenly five stops of the
light have gone.

Check by opening the back, looking thorugh the shutter when open on 'B'.
Adjust the aperture on the lens, and watch to see if the cam at 2 o'clock
in
the lens throat (looking from the rear) is moving in tandem with the lever
on the back of the lens."

I think the responses are getting mixed up with different suggestions.

Jason.

It seems to me that Jason's response was: "... I'll check that out as
soon as I finish the film that's in it at the weekend...". Perhaps this
is where I'm confused. I don't understand why Jason appears to think
that he's got to wait until the film is out in order to take the lens
off and check the diaphragm.

Checking the lens separately according to Piers' suggestion could have
been done already and in about 30 seconds. I don't know why Jason
hasn't reported on the results.
