Five ex-america cup yachts are having one of their series of races in the
san francisco bay this weekend http://www.challenge-series.com/ and i'm
hoping to actually make it this time and take some photos (though the SO may
have other ideas...;( ). Has anyone been to the earlier races? I'm
looking for advice on the best place to set up and what lenses to plan on
using. Since i won't be far from the car i can take pretty much everything.

There are 3 places that look like they would work: sausalito waterfront
shooting them around the first turn and then moving down to the finish line;
the marina green; or the pier at the bottom of van ness. Since i'm in
marin, sausalito would be the most obvious choice -- only thing is that if i
make the 10am race that i'm planning on, i'll be shooting in the general
direction of the sun. From that perspective it seems like marina green or
the pier might be better?

For lenses i was thinking of the 50-250/5, 135/2.8 and 200/4 and i have a
vivitar 2x that i could bump those up with if need be. However i realised
that i have a 49mm circ. polarizer but no 55mm polarizer though, so if
that's essential then i could either pick one up on the way, or the other
options would be a 100/2.8 (thank you tom!) and ye olde 75-150.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

RickM
