This is not a particularly sterling example of the lens makers' art.
Take a look at Gary's tests and you will see ratings of 'C' at f1.2 and
"Moderately low contrast images at f/1.2". That may actually be part of
the focus problem, the camera focuses wide open and the lens gives a
fuzzy, low contrast image clearly wide open.
