You are corerct in your supposition that the TC goes between the mount and
the lens. Mounting the TC is as tricky as mounting the lens itself - times
three (demount the lens, mount the TC to lens, mount the mount to TC). You
can therefore guess that mounting the Zuiko TC is three times easier,
beacause you don't have to do any of the above - you just mount the lens to
the TC, and the TC to the camera.

It is a very elegant solution to the problem of multiple mounts between
cameras, and I have been using Tamron lenses for over twenty years with no
problems - but fitting the mount can be very fiddly, especially "in the
field".

As to whether the 1.4XA will work - it's not a question of the adaptall
mount being a problem, but a question of whether the lens itself has
elements which protrude too far back. Tamron's own 1.4 TC will not fit all
it's own lenses for the very same reason.

Never having had an Adaptall lens I'm not familar with how it all goes
together when using a teleconverter. With just the lens it is obvious that
the adaptall mount goes between the body and the lens and the adaptall
converter must go between the adaptall mount and the lens. So how easy is it
to add the adaptall teleconverters as opposed to adding the 2xa or 1.4xa?
Will the 1.4xa even work with the adaptall mount?
