Minolta have just released a 5400dpi 35mm film scanner at a price very
similar to the Canon FS4000 (about 600 UK pounds in the UK).  5400dpi
equates to 213dots/mm.  That is still lower than the value that you
calculate above, but it is at least within the same ballpark!
