The very first move by the new liberal government in British Columbia a
couple of years ago was to abandon photo radar speed traps province wide.
The system was a massive cash drain on government coffers. As in Alberta and
Saskatchewan privately owned vehicle mounted photo radar detectors became
redundant. Roadside check stops did however check on seat belt usage.
