Your spell checker merely reflects usage; it is not an authority in itself, surely. Whereas Andrew's point is that the simple word has become unnecessarily extended and complicated. "Pressurised" simply means "pressured"; the nuances that you mention may have value in that society, but they did not really need extending.

Mind you, why have "pressured" when "pressed" probably did just as well ;-)
