Bill,

I've purchased three Tamron 180/2.5s. The first was a 35th anniversary
model which was destroyed in a very bad car accident (they don't make them
like they used to?). The one purchased to replace it simply wouldn't take
a sharp photo. There appeared to be nothing mechanically wrong and there
were no signs of impact damage at all, but it was horribly soft, especially
at infinity. So back it went and a third appeard, and this one seems fine.
So I wonder what was wrong with lens #2...

But now we have the Zuiko 180/2 and there's no looking back. The Tamron's
a fine lens, but it's not in the same league as the Zuiko f2 (unlike the
Tamron 300/2.8 and 400/4, which probably are).
