I spoke to someone a couple of days ago who said that her daughter had
taken lots of digital photos on her honeymoon and transferred them to
her laptop before returning to UK. She claimed that everything was
fine before the laptop went through the scanner; after that - zilch!
She wasn't clear whether just the image files had gone, or the OS and
all else, but said they "got them back" after sending the PC to a data
recovery service. Must have cost 'em!
Seems a bit far fetched to me.
