I think the Zeiss lenses for Olympus cameras were made under contract in
Japan. I have a 100-500 zoom and it seems to be OK but not up to the
standard of the better Zuikos. /jim

You can get a Zuiko 35-70/3.5-4.5, a tiny but excellent lens favored by
many listees for something like half that price, from me, for example,
among others.

Is it actually made in Germany? The simple spec. is identical to the
Cosina made Zuiko 35-70/3.5-4.8, which is generally considered the
poorest performer among the Zuiko 35-70 lens models. Take a look here
<http://olympus.dementia.org/eSIF/om-sif/lensgroup/35-70mmf35-48.htm>
for a pic and specs on the Zuiko for comparison.

That's high for any brand.
