Thomas, I would recommend bringing Options 1 & 2. The RC would fill in the
whole between your 28 and 85. The Pentax you could bring on your dives. ;^)

Subject: [OM] Marseille? Any hints and/or ideas what to bring?

Guys'n'gals....

I'm heading off for a weekend trip to Marseille (south of France). I
am going there to get wet (to dive), however unfortunately I cannot
stay submerged for the entire weekend (damm those nitrox and
trimix-tanks for being so "small" and so expensive to fill...)

I'm leaving tomorrow evening, so...:)

Anyways, seeing as I will have a tad of time on the surface, I
thought that I would consider the local photo-opportunities in the
city. I have never been to Marseille before, so it will be nice (not
Nice, that's another city in the same region...!).

Since scuba-gear takes quite some space, the photo-kit will have to
be MINIMAL. Now, I know that the word "minimal" is not really
well-understood on this list, so maybe I am asking the wrong question
in the wrong forum ? :)

Anyways, since I do not know the city and the area, I do not know
what to expect...which normally would lead me to bring everything and
then some, plus full backup. However since I go by train and have a
lot of stuff to carry, I would say "body + 2 lenses max", not to
overexhert myself....starting to see my dilemma here? :)

So I thought of either of the following kits as appropriate:

        1) OM40 (or OM4, haven't decided) body + 28/2 + 85/2

        2) Olympus 35RD

        3) Pentax MZ-S + 24-90

A pol-filter will be included, whichever kit I choose....

Option 2 is the smallest, however it having a single fixed lens at
about 40mm may be both a challenge and a limitation, depending on
perspective. Option 3 will give me auto-focus, but also probably get
me lynched by this list, unless I also bring an OM or two.

Option 1....well, it is excellent glass, but I am slightly worried if
it will be "too short" in the long end and "too long" in the short
end.

So...anyone who knows Marseille? Or any thoughts/votes in general on
which kit to bring.

Ohh, and the ideal would be the elusive fourth kit, which I do not
have: Nikonos V + a pile of optics which I could use both above and
beyond the surface....but, as I said, elusive... :(

Regards
