I agree, Moose. For there to be much value in collecting data on
anything other than what is clearly written around the ring there must
be a less subjective method of determining the coating type. Perhaps
some kind of standardized listing of colors from which to choose.

I did not participate in the previous Lens Coatings Survey for the same
reasons. How was I to know what reflections I was looking for? Some
months later the idea was mentioned that you could use a flat bed
scanner to get a uniform set of reflections. So when the issue came up
again I just sent the JPEG's of my lenses in hoping they could be
analyzed by someone who is more familiar with the coating reflections
than I. I have not heard back yet so I don't know if this works or not.
