My personal best is still having the lens cap of a large zoom pop off on me
just as I was stepping off the elevator at the Sea Lion caves on the
Southern Oregon Coast. It disappeared, without bouncing or touching a
thing, right through the gap between the elevator and the surrounding
structure. I probably could have stood there and TRIED repeatedly to toss
it down the little 'gap', and never succeeded.
For all I know it's still lost beneath that elevator somewhere in the rocks
and mechanicals. Was only a Soligor...
