Aloha Jeff
I've made the mistake again with a compassion shot using the 400 and the
2X Tamron and 2X Zuiko.
You can easily tell ones better than the other but I'll have to first
remember to write it down before testing the next time.
I just have the Tamron 90 macro now
Daniel

One of the big problems with some of the "cult lenses" is that what
makes them a cult lens is that they work very well for the price they
typically sell at. The 35-80 seems to sell at roughly $70 but it would
cost $50, maybe more, to get it CLA'd.

The Tamron 35-105/2.8 is a very good lens that IMO is easily worth what
it sells for. Most of my pictures are taken with a 35-xx zoom. It makes
sense to get one of the best available.

You've got three very good Tamron lenses now. 35-105/2.8, 80-200/2.8,
and 400/4. Other than wide and super wide you've probably got everything
covered with a very good lens. You have a gap at about 300, but I don't
think that is very important. 200 covers most portrait and landscape
shots. Most wildlife is easier with the 400. The only limitation of the
Tamrons is that they are big.

I think you also said you had a 90mm macro and a Zuiko(?) wide angle.
Almost anything else you get would be more for the sake of playing
around rather than needing it to take photos that you couldn't take with
what you already have. I don't think you'll miss the Vivitar nor regret
getting the 35-105/2.8.

I've been asking question to the list about mirror lenses. Nobody spoke
up with any suggestions for a good replacement. The Tamron 400/4 with a
teleconverter seems to be about the best long lens available. I was
hoping to find something longer. I'm going to have to try the 2X
teleconverters on it.

Best wishes,
-jeff
