Pretty simple.

Aperture preferred:
 Compose and focus.
 Stop down lens.
 Set speed according to meter.
 Shoot.

Shutter Speed preferred:
 Set speed.
 Compose and focus.
 Set aperture according to meter.
 Shoot.

Many pure manual aperture lenses have a pre-set mechanism where you pull out the aperture ring (or some such action) to set the desired shooting aperture. You can then move the lens between wide open and stopped down while looking through the viewfinder without having to look at the lens. This makes the process even easier.

Hi there All,

I have been trying to figure out the correct methods for taking a stopped down reading with either my OM-1 or 2n. I have a manual diaphragm lens that I want to use but would prefer to not have to use an external light meter. With the 2n I have discovered that in Auto mode it is going to make the right exposure regardless of meter reading since it is reading off the film.
So my question(s) are what is the correct method for manual mode with a 2n and
does it change with the OM-1?
