Email addresses ARE almost certainly being lifted from the Olympus list.
I use a separate hotmail account solely for the Olympus list. I get
several spam a day (the account has only existed for a few months). I
use Outlook Express without the preview window open. It is pretty easy
to recognize the spam and delete it before reading any messages.

I tried blocking all email except the Olympus list server but that
doesn't work because some of the best advice in response to questions is
sent off list. I don't even think it would work to put all 600 or so
members in a friends list, since many use multiple email accounts.

As Dan mentioned Spybot is very worth installing. Its very easy to end
up with spy software installed on your computer which is intended to
collect marketing information but can also crash your computer. The
Gator spy software nearly brought my daughter's computer to a halt and
is very difficult to remove without something like Spybot Search &
Destroy.

For windoze Spam Killer is considered to be very good. I think Symantec
is trying to combine software from a couple companies they bought to
come out with improved software.. Spam Assassin is considered to be one
of the best but doesn't run on windoze. My limited experience is that
the best thing to do is look at the sender and subject, deleting
everything that looks like spam. It's very quick and effective. Keep the
preview window closed. Double click on the first message after deleting
all of the spam.

Am I the only list member to be receiving a dozen or more spam messages
every day for viagra, breast enhancement medication, etc, etc?
