I'm sure there are others who can, and will, explain it in more 
technical terms, but the problem is, the voltage quickly drops 
below 3 volts, which means, in technical terms, stuff don't work 
right no more.  In a flash, this just means gradually, and not 
particularly noticeable, longer recharge times.

Walt, still remembering (and pissed about) the only time I used 
one.
