The field curvature of 21/3.5 is very high at close distance, you will see
very soft corners when center is in focus. The 21/2 is much better, produce
sharp image from edge is edge (of course the corner may not be as sharp as
the center but much better than the case of 21/3.5) . Also, in my experience
all my lenses with close focus correction provide better resolution than the
one without at close distance (even at the center).
