Bill,

I think Douglas is just frustrated. As a digester myself I can
sympathize. Frankly of late the digest has hardly been worth it and i
have considered using the un s*bscribe word. And that's too bad as this
list is a welcome addition to my education as a photographer. Not to
mention the comaderie (sp?). The fact of the matter is that we who
receive the digest are at the mercy of those who post in real time. So
please post in plain text. I realize that some are limited by their mail
software and so I don't mind an occasional html post. Also realize that
those of us who elect to receive the digest do so for a number of good
reasons. So don't suggest that we switch to real time mode. It
sometimes isn't practical.

As to a positive solution I suggest (again) that the list be set up to
strip html/mime and to reject long quotes. Until that can happen the
most effective thing people can do is to NOT QUOTE. The only thing
worse than a long html post is to see it endlessly scroll by time after
time. It is a simple enough thing to do before hitting that send button.
Just select out a sentence or two to indicate to what you are replying
and just delete the rest. Unfortunately many mail readers are set by
default to automatically quote. I suggest you look in the preferences
and uncheck that option. Please note that Netscape at least also allows
one to set it to only send in plain text to designated addresses. That
way you don't even have to think about it. If anyone wants a pointer
let me know, I'm glad to be of assistance.

To the majority on the list who are conscientious about posting, thanks
from the digest. And again, Please don't quote!

Mike
