Don't expect to sell the old DC to get a good finance support for a new one,
selling the old one may only help to buy some memory cards or a lens. I
bought my E-10 at $1700 and sold at $510, less than one third after two and
half years. For the C*non D30, I think it cost around $2200 when I bought my
E-10 and now it worth less than $650, what's the different? You better treat
it a total loss (in dollar value) after you bough a digital camera.

Both E-1 and 10D is system camera, they give you much better flexibility
than the E-10/20, go for either couldn't be wrong. I hope 6-8 months later
Olympus will announce a 8MP E-2.

opinion that will likely be worth exactly what it costs you. I've seen
some work done with this camera (Canon 10D) and none of us would probably
have any problem with the quality it is able to deliver. A question I would
have for myself, where I pondering this situation is, "What will I do with
the E-20 when I buy the E-1?" If my answer is to sell it to help finance my
new E-1 and accessories, then I'd buy the Canon as it, no doubt, will
maintain its resale value better than the E-20. The risk one takes when
going on a date with someone else while still dating your steady, is that
you might like the new one better. Breaking up is had to do (that has kind
of a catchy sound to it . . . might make a good song) and that is what you
risk. If you go with the Canon, will you be tempted to get another lens or
two? You will want their close-up lens. I think it is a D500 or 500D or
something like that. It is really nice and will fit on the end of my Tamron
180mm f2.5 if in the 72mm size. Heck, another question I would ask myself
is, "What else will be on the market 6 or 8 months from now when I'm ready
to take the leap?" I know this probably hasn't been much help and I guess
the question maybe if you just want to get your toe wet or get wet all over.
