The sensor size is only about 30maller in the E-1 vs the 10D.

There's always a use, but it works better on the longer lenses.  The shorter 
focal lengths get shafted.

10D     18.0x13.5=22.5 mm diag ------>1.9x FL Factor
E1      22.7x15.1=27.3 mm diag ------>1.6x FL Factor
35mm    36.0x24.0=43.3 mm diag
