Tree level there is about 1650m. Around here Johan, the tree line varies
by latitude and also from west to east as one leaves the snow and rain
of the coast behind. Near the outer coast in the Olympic Mountains tree
line is near 1300m rising to 2400m several hundred km inland. This
difference is quite noticiable while when driving a couple of hours
either way. I beleive that the tree line may be rising as the climate of
the last 50 years has warmed. However I have no proof. There is ample
evidence of the rapidly melting glaciers. I've been meaning to compare
pictures taken years ago with these latest shots. First pictures i have
are from around 1950 taken by my father. The Kodachromes are still in
excellent condition.
