Sounds to me like a problem with the MD switch in the body.

The MD switch is designed so that as the mirror goes up, one of the
contacts is grounded to immediately brake the winder's motor. If that
contact doesn't short to ground, the motor slows to a stop instead of
stopping immediately.

This is likely to show up at slower speeds. With the shutter open and the
winder continuing to turn, it will pull the first curtain back into the
frame (on OM-1's and 2's, there's nothing to prevent the camera from being
wound while the shutter is open). Then, after the exposure is "complete",
the second curtain is released, only it can only move as far as the first
curtain (this has to do with the double-roller design's gearing).

Fire the camera with the winder, shutter speeds at manual at 1/15th or so,
without a lens, and watch the mirror and curtains. The mirror should go up
and the curtains should travel, first, then second. Chances are, you'll
see the winder pull the first curtain back into the frame, then the closing
or second curtain will fly across to it. If so, the switch is your
problem.

Oh, and a missing MD cap will NOT cause a light leak.
