Not to belabor this, and meaning in no way to be argumentative,
but let me offer the following, then I?ll shut up.

Mark quoted from "The Olympus Way," a highly-regarded work, but
one which I believe is considerably older than the 1989 edition of
Carl Shipman's "How to Select & Use Olympus SLR Cameras," which
says, under the subheading "M.15V Ni-Cd Control Pack 2" at page
139-140, "The control pack can be separated from the motor drive
by using a Relay Cord. Two cords are available: one is 1.2 meters
long, the other 10 meters. The short cord is useful in cold
weather because you can put the battery pack in your pocket to
keep it warm. Either cord can be used to control the camera
remotely using the Mode Selector and Shutter-Release Button on the
control pack."

And beneath a photograph of the 1.2m Relay Cord on page 139, the
caption reads: "Any of the standard power sources for the Motor
Drive can be located remotely and connected to the motor drive
unit with a Relay Cord. Two lengths are available: 1.2 meters and
10 meters."

I'm through now. I'll switch off. :-)
