Went to North Wales for summer holidays throughout the sixties Wayne, have been
back a couple of time since. Yes, I think you wold
find some possibilities:

The highest mountain in England & Wales is vey close by, and it soen't rise up
alone Uluru-like out of a prairie, the surrounding
Snowdonia National Park is scenic indeed. And no grizzlies. No geysers
either. But probably no mountains by your standards, just
rocky hills!

Slate quarrying/mining went on there in the 19th century, so there is also
plenty of industrial archaeology, as well as several
restored narrow gauge steam railways.

Bangor is on the coast, almost overlooking the Island of Anglesey, whose own
coastline will give you some rocks and waves
possibilities.

Further south from Bangor is the Atkantic coast of N Wales with good barreb
clifftops.

Several mediaeval castles in the area - Caernarvon very close to Bagor, Conwy
not far, Criccieth and Harlech within an hours drive.

Not much in the way of industry - a couple on nuclear power stations, that's
about it.

Good coastal motorway.freeway to Liverpool and Manchester for industrial
cityscapes and cultural attractions too.

And direct trains to London from Bangor, every hore, take just over 4 hours.
