Subject: [OM] digital poll

I plan to keep my OM-4ts (and a -1n) and at least some Zuikos for as long as
35 mm film is marketed (and after that I'll retire them honorably to a glass
case). But, I am going to make some conversion to digital soon for some of
my work. There are several List Members who have made a similar decision
and are still on the List. What did you decide? C*n*n, N*k*n, or Oly pro
D-SLR? Or prosumer EVF/ZLR (C*n*n G5, E-20, C-5050 et al, Sony F717, etc.)?
Or consumer digital? What did you get? Are you happy with it? Would you
do it again? What percentage of work do you shoot digital?

Gary,

The guys in the company I shoot with shoot C*n*n, so it was pretty much a no-brainer. My first camera was a used D30, which I kept only for about 3 weeks. Got a deal on a refurb D60, and sold the D30 for what I paid for it. I really liked the D60 and still do. The image quality from it is spectacular, and it is a nicely made camera, too. I still use the D60 when image quality is the top priority. The 10D has the same sensor but somewhat better image quality due to the DIGIC imaging engine. For the motosports work, though, the D60 wasn't really cutting it, so I got a 1D in May, and I use that exclusively for the race photography now. It is *really* good for motorsports. Fastest and most accurate autofocus on the market, brick out-house-like build quality, 8 fps, great range of versatile lenses, and pro support. The 1D is a truly impressive camera and is the de-facto photojournalists and sports shooter's camera for good reason. Despite its few faults, it is hands-down the best camera I have ever used. I must say after being such a die-hard Oly OM shooter for so long, I am very happy with my C*n*n gear and would do it over again in a heartbeat. As far as I am concerned, no other Mfr. makes cameras that can do what the C*n*ns do. As for the percentage of work I shoot digital now, 100%.
