Well, to my eyes the Pacifica looks a lot like the old Vista Cruiser
stationwagons I learned to drive on... but mention that the fancy-dan SUV's
like the lexus RX-330, Pacifica, Infniti FX-45 and the BMW X-5 look like
nothing so much as a high-suspension stationwagon and you will disappoint
most of the buyers. Sure they're practical, and certainly four-wheel drive,
even without a center differential and locking diffs is handy in wintery
weather zones. But I still think they look like stationwagons.
Now, a stationwagon isn't always a bad thing... the Volvo P-1800 was one,
and still a very nice sporty car, and the Subaru WRX-STI can be hand in a
'stationwagon' format as well... and I wouldn't mind a test drive either.
Pacifica is Chrysler's upscale car-platform SUV, which I think they billed
as a 'Sophisticated Utility Vehicle'. Notable to me is having the
navigatioin system (of course it has one...!) screen right in the middle of
the instrument panel in front of the driver. I wonder how much hacking it
would take to route the DVD player output to that screen...
