I never felt as cold as when I left the dry cold of -40 deg F in Wyoming and moved to the southeast. I had no short sleeve shirts to my name (needed for most of the year here) but sure could have used the long underwear again!

You call SE Pennsylvania cold?

I know, I know. It's a "damp cold".

(kinda like Arizona's "dry heat")

Saw an 18-wheeler that had jackknifed on black ice going up toward the pass east of Laramie on I 80. It still seems strange that his trailer could completely pass him and turn him around while going uphill on ice.

This morning I passed two roll-overs on I-80. Neither were
SUVs. However, I did get sideways once or twice before slapping
the jeep back into 4WD. Never wiggled once after that.
Interstate was icy, but the traffic was light and I had no
reason to stop so I picked the pace back up to 75mph. Had to
keep pace with the 18-wheelers, you know.

One year, as we were returning from Christmas in Michigan, I kept awake on I 80 by counting the cars and trucks in the ditch. It was too difficult to drive and watch both sides of the freeway at the same time in the snowstorm, but I still managed to count over 100 by the time we reached Iowa.

I don't miss shoveling the snow, but I wish we didn't get the ice storms that seem to replace the snow here in the south.
